  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. The titular coats of arms are depicted on the wings: on the right—Kazan, Astrakhan, and Siberian; on the left—Polish, Tauric, and Finnish. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Along the edge of the coin are circular inscriptions: around the eagle, facing inward—"CHISTAGO SEREBRA 10 1/2 DOLY" (Pure Silver 10 1/2 Zolotniks), below the eagle, facing outward—"1845". The inscriptions are separated by two stars. The rim is decorated with denticles.
  • Obverse
In the central part is a bust to the right of Emperor Nicholas I. Around the bust is the text: B. M. NIKOLAY I IMP I SAM V SEROSS. (His Imperial Majesty Nicholas I Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia). The rim is decorated with short denticles.
