    In the central part, a depiction of a woman standing frontally, holding a scepter in her right hand, and with her left hand supporting a shield standing at her feet. Behind the woman, a lion lying to the left, looking at her. On the left, the year of issue '1965', on the right the inscription 'L∙2' (2 lire). From left to right the country name 'CITTA DEL VATICANO' (Vatican City), below the inscription 'FORTITUDO' (Fortitude). All inscriptions are in Italian.
  • Obverse
    In the central part, the coat of arms of the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Paul VI, consisting of a shield surmounted by the papal tiara, behind the shield crossed keys. Along the edge of the coin runs a Latin inscription 'PAVLVS VI PONTIFEX MAXIMVS A. III' (Paul VI Supreme Pontiff, 3rd year of his pontificate), with dots between the words. Below, near the rim, a six-petaled flower.
