Along the lower edge arc, the name of a city in Botswana, Ipelegeng. In the central part, an image of a wild zebu bull. Above it, in two lines, the inscription '25 THEBE', translated as '25 thebe'.
Obverse
In the upper part, along the coin's edge arc, the country name in English – 'BOTSWANA'. Below, the year of minting '1998'. In the central part, the country's coat of arms: an oval shield supported by two zebras, the left one holds an elephant tusk, the right one a sorghum branch. Above, three interlocking gears, below them waves, and beneath them, the head of a domestic bull. The inscription on the motto ribbon 'PULA' translates as 'rain'.
