The central part features a monogram of Peter III: four intersecting Cyrillic letters 'P' (for Petr), arranged in a circle with their tops pointing inward and each crowned with an imperial crown. Between the letters are four Roman numerals 'III'. Within the monogram, in the center, are the digits of the coin's year of issue: '17' on the left and '62' (1762) on the right, separated by the crossing lines of the monogram. An inscription runs along the entire circumference of the coin's edge, divided by four imperial crowns: MONETA ♚ NOVAYa ♚ TSENA ♚ RUBL' ♚
Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a right-facing profile portrait of Peter III. In the truncation of the shoulder are the medallist's initials — the letters 'S.YU.' (Samoylo Yudich Yudin). Around the portrait is the text: PETR•III•B•M•IMP•ISAMODERZH•VSEROS. Below the portrait is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
