    In the central part, the horizontal text in English '2 EURO'. The lettering is set against a background map of the European part of the continent. Above and below the map are six lines with five-pointed stars. Below the letter 'O' are the crossed initials of the designer Luc Luycx, the Latin letters 'LL'.
  • Obverse
    On the inner disc, at the center, a globe is depicted with the graphic symbol of the common European currency inscribed within it. On the globe's surface are depicted houses, people, a ship, the ECB building with a '€' sign on it, wind turbines, and a factory. Below the ECB building is the designer's mark of Helmut Andexlinger 'A.H.'. Around the disc's circumference are inscriptions: at the top the country name in German 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' (Republic of Austria), at the bottom the years '2002-2012'. Around the outer edge along the rim are twelve five-pointed stars.
