Reverse The central part features the coat of arms of Jamaica: a heraldic shield with a cross and five pineapples, above the shield a crocodile on a log, and at the base the motto 'Out of many, one people'. Along the rim, with toothed elements, the text: at the top the colony name - 'JAMAICA', at the bottom - 'HALF PENNY'. On either side of the coat of arms, the mint year '1957' is split: '19' on the left, '57' on the right. All inscriptions are in English.
Obverse The center features a right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. Along the rim: to the right, bottom, and left, the English text QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND. The edge of the coin has decorative raised toothing.
