Along the arc of the lower edge is the mint year 1974, separated from the inscription by two four-petaled flowers. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.

In the central part, the coat of arms of Angola. In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, the country name Angola in Portuguese: 'ANGOLA'. In the lower part, along the arc of the coin's edge, '2$50' - 2.5 escudos. The inscriptions are separated by images of two different types of four-petaled flowers, three on each side. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
