In the central part, within a circle, are depicted the flags of the participating nations of the FIFA World Cup, with a section of a soccer ball below. The coin's edge features a chain-like pattern, with the heraldic symbol of the island above. Along the pattern are inscriptions in English: from left to right 'XIII WORLD CUP - MEXICO - 1986', at the bottom - 'ONE CROWN', flanked on both sides by three dots.
Obverse
Centered is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM'. Below the truncation are the Latin letters 'PM' - the mint mark of the Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, United Kingdom. Along the rim are inscriptions in English: on the left the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN', on the right the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II', at the bottom the year of issue '1982'. Around the circumference along the rim are decorative raised denticles.
