Along the edge, the French text 'BANQUE CENTRALE ETATS DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST' (Central Bank of West African States). The beginning and end of the inscription are separated by a raised dot. In the center is an image of a goldweight (gold dust weight), a small brass figure used by the Ashanti people to measure gold dust.
