Along the edge of the coin is a toothed (reeded) relief.
Obverse In the central part is the bust of the first Prime Minister of Mauritius, Seewoosagur Ramgoolam. Around the edge of the coin is text in English: 'DR THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR SEEWOOSAGUR RAMGOOLAM KT X'. The edge of the coin features relief elements in the form of teeth (denticles).
