Reverse In the left part, a geoglyph from the Nazca Plateau is depicted. The conventional name for this image is 'condor'. On the right is the numeral 5. Below is a two-line inscription in Spanish 'NUEVOS SOLES' (5 nuevos soles). An octagon surrounds the central disk, 'standing' on its vertex.
Obverse In the central part is the coat of arms of the Republic of Peru. It consists of a heraldic shield, above which is a laurel wreath. To the left of the shield is a palm branch, to the right – a laurel branch, the branches are tied with a ribbon forming a bow. In the left field of the shield is a vicuña facing right, in the right – a cinchona tree, below – a golden cornucopia. Along the rim are inscriptions in Spanish: left, top, and right 'BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ' (Central Reserve Bank of Peru), below the year of minting '2000'.
