In the upper part, along the curve of the coin's edge, the text in English: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. At the bottom: ONE SHILLING. The coin's edge is decorated with decorative denticles.

    In the central part, the right-facing profile of George V, King of Great Britain and Ireland. Around the edge of the coin, the inscription in Latin: 'GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:' - George V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India. The edge of the coin features a relief denticulated ornament.
