In the central part, against a background of a floral pattern, the two-line inscription "100 FRANCS". From left to right, the inscription "UNION MONETAIRE OUEST-AFRICAINE" (West African Monetary Union). Along the lower edge, the mint year "1974", flanked on the left by a cornucopia (mint mark of the Paris Mint) and on the right by an owl (mint director's mark for Raymond Joly).
Obverse
In the central part, the emblem of the BCEAO - a sawfish. Below the emblem (on the left) the engraver's mark "RJ" for Raymond Joly. Along the edge of the coin runs the text "BANQUE CENTRALE DES ETATS DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST" (Central Bank of West African States).
