    In the central part, the denomination "5F." in French. Between the letter and the number is an image of a sawfish. Along the upper and lower edges are inscriptions in French: "BANQUE CENTRALE" (Central Bank) and "ÉTATS DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST" (States of West Africa).
  • Obverse
    Along the upper edge are grape clusters on vine branches. At the bottom left and right are ears of corn. Below them on the left: "G.B.L. BAZOR" - the designer's privy mark for Lucien Georges Bazor. In the center is a frontal depiction of a Grant's gazelle head. Below: "1999" - the year of minting.
