    Along the left and top edge of the coin, the English text 'REACHING FOR NEW HORIZONS'; to the right, the year of issue '1992', separated from the inscription by a star; at the bottom, the inscription 'FIVE DOLLARS'. In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of a sailboat sailing under a starry sky. To its left is the English inscription 'TIPNOL' — 'Tipnol', to the right near the rim is the 'R' mintmark of the Rhode Island mint.

    In the central part is the coat of arms of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, which is a round disc with an angel framed by two interlocking chains. Along the outer edge of the disc at the top is the name of the state in English 'REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS', at the bottom — the motto in Marshallese 'JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN', translated as 'Accomplishment Through Joint Effort'. From the angel's head, two rays extend upwards, between which is a twenty-four-pointed star. Above the angel's wings: on the right, a fishing net; on the left, a shell tool. Below the wings: on the right, a canoe; on the left, coconut palms. Below the angel is an image of a traditional Marshallese navigational chart in perspective, beneath it the inscription on a ribbon 'Seal'. Below the outer chain, to the left of the disc, is the sign $5 — 'five dollars', to the right — the year of issue '1992'.
