Reverse
The central part features the coat of arms of Colombia. In the upper part, along the rim's arc, is text in Spanish: "CINCUENTA CENTAVOS" - fifty centavos. Along the arc of the left rim is the weight: "G.12,500"; on the right is the silver fineness: "LEI 0,500". Along the arc of the lower rim is the inscription in Spanish: "MEDELLIN" - the Medellín mint. The rim features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
Obverse
The central part features a left-facing profile portrait of Liberty, wearing a headband with the Spanish inscription: "LIBERTAD" - "Liberty". Below it is the year of issue - 1886. To the left, above, and to the right is the inscription in Spanish: "ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA", which translates to "United States of Colombia". In the lower part, along the rim's arc, are nine seven-pointed stars. The rim features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
