In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, text in English: 'ONE CENT'. Along the arc of the lower edge, an inscription in English: 'NEWFOUNDLAND'. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.

From left to right along the edge, text in Latin: 'EDWARDVS VII DEI GRATIA REX IMPERATOR' - Edward VII, by the Grace of God, King and Emperor. Along the rim are raised denticulated elements.
