The upper part of the coin features the crown of the Russian Empire. In the center, the denomination is struck—the number 20. Below the number is the name of the monetary unit 'KOPѢEКЪ'. Below that is a line, under which is the abbreviation 'S.P.B.' (Saint Petersburg Mint). On the left side of the coin, along the edge, is a laurel branch, and on the right, an oak branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon. Raised denticles are struck along the coin's edge.
  • Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The heraldic shield, above the eagle's heads, is crowned by the imperial crown. The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, all entwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Below the ribbon are letters: 'H' on the left, 'Г' on the right. These are the initials of mintmaster Nikolai Grachev. Below the initials is the year of mintage '1829 ГОДА.'. The rim is decorated with short denticles.
