    In the central part, the text '2 EURO' is placed horizontally. The lettering is set against a map of the European continent. Above and below the map are six lines with five-pointed stars. Below the letter 'O' are the crossed initials of the designer Luc Luycx, the Latin letters 'LL'.

    In the center of the inner disc is a stylized self-portrait of the Finnish-Swedish painter Helene Schjerfbeck. Along the portrait: on the left, vertically from bottom to top, the artist's name in Finnish 'HELENE SCHJERFBECK', below it the Latin letters of the issuing state 'FI' (Finland) and the year of minting '2012'; on the right, vertically from top to bottom, her life years '1862-1946', below them the mintmark of the Finnish Mint – a heraldic lion in a circle. At the left border of the inner disc is the designer's mark of Erja Tielinen 'T'. Twelve five-pointed stars are evenly distributed along the coin's outer ring.
