    The Australian coat of arms is depicted against a background of feathers: a kangaroo and an emu supporting a shield, above which is a torse surmounted by the Commonwealth Star. Below the coat of arms is the numeral 50, and beneath it the designer's initials 'SD' for Stuart Devlin.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. Below the neck truncation is the sculptor's initials 'IRB' for Ian Rank-Broadley. On the left side, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the Queen's name in English 'ELIZABETH II'. On the right side is the name of the independent state and the year of mintage: 'AUSTRALIA 2010'.
