At the top, a three-line inscription in Ottoman Turkish: 'ضرب في مصر' - 'STRUCK IN EGYPT'. Below, the denomination: 'نصف من عشر القرش' - 'one twentieth of a qirsh'. Beneath that, the year of Abdul Hamid II's accession according to the Hijri calendar: '١٢٩٣' - 1293 AH or 1876 AD.

In the center, the tughra of Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II. To its right, a depiction of a rose flower. At the bottom, a two-line inscription in Ottoman Turkish indicates the 19th year of the Sultan's reign: '١٩سنه'.
