In the central part are three female profiles facing left. Along the lower edge is an inscription in Spanish: «HERMANAS MIRABAL», translated as: «Mirabal Sisters». In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is text in Spanish: «CUNA DE LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS», which can be translated as: «Cradle of Human Rights». Between the inscriptions are six five-pointed stars, three on each side. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of dots.
Obverse
In the central part is the coat of arms of the Dominican Republic. On the left side, along the edge of the coin, is an inscription in Spanish: «25 CENTAVOS». At the top and right along the rim is the country's name in Spanish: «REPUBLICA DOMINICANA». In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, is the mint year 1987. The inscriptions are separated by three five-pointed stars. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of dots.
