    In the central part, a woman is depicted (frontally) breastfeeding an infant. Along the upper edge in an arc is the state name in Italian "CITTA' DEL VATICANO" (Vatican City), below horizontally the inscription "L.200" (200 lire). To the left of the image is the mintmark of the Rome mint - "R".

    In the center is the right-facing profile of the Pope. Along the edge of the coin from left to right runs the text in Latin - "IOANNES PAVLVS II P.M. AN XIV" (John Paul II Supreme Pontiff 14th year), and the Gregorian year of issue "1992" in Roman numerals "MCMXCII". Below the truncation, the artist's name Sergio Giandomenico - "Giandomenico". In the lower part along the edge of the coin is a cross of five dots.
