Reverse The central part features a kangaroo, the national symbol of Australia. Below it is the year of issue: 1946. To its right is a seven-pointed star. Along the upper edge is the country name in English: 'AUSTRALIA'. Along the lower edge is the text in English: 'HALF PENNY'. To its left is the initials 'KG' - the designer's mark of George Kruger Gray of the Melbourne Mint. The rim of the coin features raised elements in the form of dots.
Obverse The central part features the left-facing profile of King George VI of Great Britain. Around the edge of the coin is an inscription in Latin: 'GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP.' - George VI by the Grace of God King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India. Along the rim is a dotted relief pattern.
