In the central part, the coat of arms of the Republic of Haiti. Below, near the rim, the mintmarks of the Paris Mint: the letter 'A', with a cornucopia to its left. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the motto in French: 'LIBERTÉ EGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ' - Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. The rim of the coin features a toothed relief pattern.
Obverse
In the central part, within a circle, a two-line inscription in French: '1 CENT' - 1 cent. Below it is the year of issue: 1894, flanked by stars. To the left, above, and to the right along the rim is the country name in French: 'REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI' - Republic of Haiti. The edge of the coin features raised elements in the form of teeth.
