In the central part - the inscription 500 Drams in Armenian in 2 lines on a background of diagonal hatching from right to left: "500 ԴՐԱՄ". Along the edges of the rim is a decorative raised pattern in the form of semicircles.
Obverse
In the central part is depicted the coat of arms of Armenia: a lion and an eagle, facing opposite directions, holding a shield. Below it - the year of minting: "2003". Along the arc of the coin's edge from left to right runs text in Armenian: "ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ՀԱՆՐԱՊԵՏՈՒԹՅԱՆ ԿԵՆՏՐՈՆԱԿԱՆ ԲԱՆԿ" - "CENTRAL BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA".
