Reverse In the central part, a wild zebu bull is depicted (facing left). Above it, a two-line inscription reads "25 THEBE". Along the lower edge, an arched inscription reads "IPELEGENG" (Self-Sufficiency). All inscriptions are in the Setswana language.
Obverse In the central part is the coat of arms of the Republic of Botswana. It features a traditional shield depicting: three cogwheels in the upper part, three waves in the center, and a bull's head at the bottom. At the base is the motto "Pula" (Rain). The shield is flanked by two zebras: the zebra on the right holds a sorghum stalk, the zebra on the left holds an elephant tusk. Along the rim: the year of issue "1976" at the bottom, and the country name "BOTSWANA" at the top. All inscriptions are in the Setswana language.
