In the central part, a stylized image of the globe with the number 50, where the lower part of the digit 5 contains the emblem of the UN Human Rights Council. Along the edge of the coin, separated by dots on the right and left, is an inscription in Ukrainian: «ЗАГАЛЬНА ДЕКЛАРАЦIЯ ПРАВ ЛЮДИНИ. ВСI ПРАВА ЛЮДИНИ ДЛЯ ВСIХ», which translates to: «Universal Declaration of Human Rights. All Human Rights for All».

In the central part, the coat of arms of Ukraine is depicted. To its left is the digit "2", below along the edge the text: «ГРИВНI» - 2 (two) hryvnias. In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the country name in Ukrainian: «УКРАЇНА». In the right part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the year of mintage 1998.
