    In the central part, the state symbol of the Belgian Congo — an image of a five-pointed star. To the left of the upper ray, along the border of dots, the number 5; to the right, the inscription 'C.', meaning 'five centimes'. On each side of the star are three raised elements in the form of five-pointed stars, arranged vertically. Below the lower rays is the year of minting '1919'.

    Around the edge of the coin — a decorative raised pattern of triangular teeth. Along the arc of the coin's edge on the left is an inscription in Dutch 'BELGISCH - CONGO', on the right in French '★★CONGO BELGE', translating to Belgian Congo, separated at the top and bottom by two rosettes in the form of a dot. In the central part, evenly spaced around the hole, are 5 stylized monograms of the monarch, King Albert I.
