    In the central part, against a background of a nest, water, and shoreline vegetation, a loon is depicted facing right. Above and below are horizontal inscriptions in English: above '1 DOLLAR', below the country name 'CANADA'. Beneath it is the mintmark of the Ottawa, Canada mint – a maple leaf.

    In the center is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. In the truncation of the portrait are the Latin letters 'SB' – the artist's mark for Susanna Blunt.
