    Along the edge arc of the coin: at the bottom, the name of the city - the new capital of Kazakhstan 'ASTANA' in large letters; on the left, an inscription in the Kazakh language 'ҚАЗАҚСТАННЫҢ ЖАҢА АСТАНАСЫ', on the right - in Russian 'НОВАЯ СТОЛИЦА КАЗАХСТАНА'. In the central part, a shanyrak is surrounded by eight decorative petal-shaped elements, together forming the image of a flower. To the right of the flower is the year of mintage '1998'.

    Along the rim are inscriptions in the Kazakh language: on the left '...ҚАЗАҚСТАН', on the right 'ҰЛТТЫК БАНКI...', which translate as 'NATIONAL BANK OF KAZAKHSTAN'; at the bottom - 'ТЕҢГЕ', highlighted on both sides by raised dot elements. In the central part is the national coat of arms: a shanyrak (the upper domed part of a yurt) in the form of a crosspiece inscribed in a circle, from which support rays radiate, surrounded on the sides by mythical winged horses, tulpars. At the top, between the wings, is a five-pointed star; at the bottom, the name of the country 'KAZAKSTAN'. Below the coat of arms is the large number 20, highlighted on both sides by raised national ornaments. To the right of the coat of arms are the 'ҚҰБ' mintmark of the Kazakhstan Mint.
