Around the upper edge under a beaded border, Latin inscriptions: ":GEORGIVS VI", "D.G. BRITT. OMN. REX F.D. IND: IMP:", translating to "George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India". In the central part, a left-facing profile portrait of the King. The letters "PM" below the neck truncation — the engraver's mark for Percy Metcalfe.
