In the central part, the coat of arms of Uganda. To its left and right are the numbers: 19 and 99 respectively, indicating the year of issue: 1999. In the left part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is text in English, framed by dots: 'BANK OF UGANDA' - Bank of Uganda, below - '1000 SHILLINGS' - 1000 shillings. The coin's edge features raised elements in the form of teeth.
