The shield depicts the coats of arms of Hungary, Bohemia, Burgundy, and Tyrol, with the crowned Austrian coat of arms in the center. Under the eagle's claws are Latin letters: on the left 'I∙C∙', on the right 'F∙A∙'. Below, framed by the eagle's tail feathers, is the number 5. Along the arc of the coin's edge are Latin inscriptions: on the right and left 'ARCHID∙AUST∙DUX∙BURG∙CO∙TYR∙1777∙' (Archduchess of Austria, Duchess of Burgundy, Countess of Tyrol 1777). The edge is decorated with decorative dentils.

The coin's edge features decorative raised dentils.
