    In the central part, a Snowy Owl is depicted facing left, poised to seize prey in flight. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top the country name 'CANADA', at the bottom the inscription 'DOLLAR'. Above the bird, the mint year '2006' is placed horizontally. To the right of the tail feathers are the Latin letters 'GL' - the artist's mark for Glen Loates.

    In the center is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. In the truncation of the portrait are the Latin letters 'SB' - the artist's mark for Susanna Blunt. To the right and left of the portrait, the Latin inscription is split into two parts: on the right - 'ELIZABETH II', on the left - 'D∙ G∙ REGINA' (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen). Around the circumference along the rim are decorative raised dots.
