In the central part, the coat of arms of the Portuguese colony of Guinea-Bissau: an armillary sphere with five towers; on the sphere - a heraldic shield, in its left half five shields, in the right - a Moor's head on a staff, waves below. In the upper part along the arc of the coin's edge, the colony name 'GUINE', below the year of minting '1973', left and right relief flowers. The edge of the coin has toothed elements.
