    In the central part, against a background of a harbor, an ocean liner, and the sea, a Dhow sailing boat is depicted. Above the image, the two-line inscription "10 FRANCS". Around the circumference along the rim, the inscription: "TERRITOIRE FRANCAIS DES AFARS ET DES ISSAS". All inscriptions are in French.
  • Obverse
    Against a background of ships, the left-facing profile of Marianne wearing a winged Phrygian cap is depicted. Below the ships, the mark of the Chief Engraver Lucien Georges Bazor: on the left "L.Bazor", on the right "G.B.". On either side of the portrait along the rim, the country name "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE". Below, the year of issue "1970", flanked on the left by a cornucopia (mint mark of the Paris Mint) and on the right by an owl (mark of the Mint Director Raymond Joly).
