    Around the rim, the English inscription: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. The date '1919' is at the bottom, flanked on both sides by raised dot elements. The central part of the reverse features a raised hexagram design.

    The rim is decorated with raised dots. On the left side, along the rim, the Latin inscription 'GEORGIVS V', and on the right 'REX ET IND: IMP:', translating to 'George V King and Emperor of India'. In the central upper part is a crown, the symbol of British rulers. Below it, surrounding the hole, is the inscription 'ONE PENNY'. At the bottom, the denomination is indicated in Arabic script: 'وَاحِد پَنّي.'.
