Around the edge from left to right is the inscription "REPUBLIKA . PORTUGUESA", which translates to "Portuguese Republic". Below is the year of issue "1969", flanked by two rosettes. In the central part, against the background of a broadened cross, is the middle coat of arms of Portugal: a heraldic shield on an armillary sphere. On the shield are five small shields arranged in the form of a cross, each with bezants. The edges feature a wide border with seven castles.
  • Obverse
In the upper part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the name of the province of Angola in Portuguese: "ANGOLA". To the left and right are three rosettes with four petals each, the outer ones small, the middle one large. Below is the inscription "10 $OO", meaning "ten escudos". In the central part is the coat of arms of the province: a heraldic shield on an armillary sphere, divided per pall, topped with five towers. Between the towers are four small shields with the Cross of the Order of Christ. In the left third of the shield is a fragment of the coat of arms of Portugal; in the right are images of typical Angolan fauna, an African elephant and a zebra; at the bottom are waves.
