    In the central part, a gold weight figure of the Akan-Ashanti people. To its left is the numeral: 1, to its right - the abbreviation 'F.', which from French stands for: franc. Around the edge of the coin is an inscription in French: 'BANQUE CENTRALE DES ETATS DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST' - Central Bank of West African States, separated by a point and the mintmarks of the Paris Mint: a wing and a cornucopia.

    In the central part, within a wreath of corn, a gazelle head. Below it is the year of issue: 1985. To its left is the lettering 'G.B.L. BAZOR' - the mark of the Chief Engraver of the Paris Mint, Lucien Georges Bazor. Around the edge of the coin is a raised ornamental border, executed in the form of grape clusters and peanut pods.
