    In the upper part, along the edge arc of the coin, the text in Spanish 'REPUBLICA DE KUBA' — the name of the Republic of Cuba. Below, the inscription '1 PESO', translated as 'one peso'. In the central part, the national coat of arms of Cuba is depicted: a shield under a Phrygian cap is framed by an oak branch on one side and a laurel branch on the other. The shield is divided into 3 parts: at the top — a key between the Florida and Yucatán peninsulas, locking the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico, with the sun rising over the gulf; in the right part — a palm tree and mountain peaks; in the left part — relief diagonal stripes.
