Reverse In the central part is a deer. Below it is the year of minting: 1950. Near the front hooves is the letter 'KG' - the initials of the designer of the British Royal Mint, George Kruger Gray. Along the left arc of the coin's edge is the country name in English, framed by dots: 'MAURITIUS'. On the right is an inscription, separated by dots: 'HALF RUPEE'. Along the edge of the coin is a toothed (reeded) rim.
Obverse In the central part is the left-facing profile of King George VI of Great Britain. To the left and right along the rim is text in English: 'KING GEORGE THE SIXTH'. The edge of the coin features relief elements in the form of teeth (denticles).
