    The center features the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Around the eagle is the inscription: МОНЕТА НОВАѦ ЦЕНА РУБЛЬ ҂АѰКА (1721). The coin's edge is decorated with a twisted ornamental border.
