    In the central part, within a circle, the numeral 5. Around it are the nine coats of arms of the Federal States of Austria: Vienna, Burgenland, Upper Austria, Vorarlberg, Carinthia, Styria, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol. The arms are positioned with their base towards the center, forming a sun-like pattern. Along the upper edge of the coin are inscriptions in German: on the left, top, and right the country name 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' (Republic of Austria), at the bottom the inscription 'EURO' (Euro).
  • Obverse
    In the center is depicted a Catholic church, an architectural monument and the main site of Catholic pilgrimage in Austria – the Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Tree crowns are depicted on both sides. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is text in German '850 JAHRE MARIAZELL' (850 Years of the City of Mariazell), on the right the year the chapel was built on the site where the Basilica was founded – '1157' – and the year of mintage – '2007'.
