    Around the rim: English legend BRITISH WEST AFRICA at top, year of issue '1941' at bottom. In the center, within a closed wreath, a two-line English inscription '3 PENCE'. The wreath's branches (at bottom) are tied with a ribbon forming a bow. Below the wreath is the Birmingham Mint mark 'H'. The edge is decorated with decorative denticles.

    In the center is the left-facing profile of King George VI of Great Britain, wearing a crown. Around the rim is the Latin legend 'GEORGIVS VI D. G. BRITT. OMN. REX F. D. IND. IMP:', which translates to 'GEORGE VI BY THE GRACE OF GOD KING OF ALL THE BRITONS, DEFENDER OF THE FAITH EMPEROR OF INDIA'. Below the truncation of the monarch's neck are the initials 'PM' of the British medallist Percy Metcalfe. The rim of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
