At the top, an inscription in Thai: «โปรตุเกสพันธมิตรแห่งราชอาณาจักรสยาม» — "Alliance of Portugal and Siam". At the bottom, the inscription is duplicated in Portuguese: «ALIANÇA PORTUGAL REINO DO SIÃO». In the central part, a symmetrical composition includes two intertwined rigging ropes and the date 1512. On the left is the symbol of the King of Portugal — an armillary sphere with a sash to the right bearing the inscription «M + R + O + E», topped with the cross of the Order of Christ. Below the sphere is the monarch's name «D.MANUEL I» — "Dom Manuel I". On the right is a war elephant facing forward with a royal howdah on its back, symbolizing the Kingdom of Siam, and the ruler's name «RAMATHIBOLDI II» — "Ramathibodi II", who concluded the first trade treaty with the Portuguese.

Near the left rim, the abbreviation «INCM» — the mintmark of the Lisbon Mint — and the engraver's name «E.BYRNE». At the top, the name of the issuing country in Portuguese: «REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA», which translates to "Republic of Portugal". At the bottom, the issue date 1996 and the inscription «200 ESCUDOS» — "200 escudos". In the central part are images of the coat of arms of Portugal, a sailing warship to the right, and a view of Siam from the sea.
