In the central part is a shield divided into lozenge-shaped vertical stripes. Above it is the Crown of the Principality of Monaco. To the left of the shield is the inscription 1 franc in French: "1FR". Along the arc of the right edge is an inscription in Latin: "DEO JUVANTE" - "WITH GOD'S HELP".
Obverse
In the central part is a right-facing profile portrait of Jacques Honoré Rainier Grimaldi. To the right of it are the designer's initials, Robert Cochet: "R. Cochet". Along the arc of the coin's edge is text in French: "RAINIER III PRINCE DE MONACO" - "RAINIER III PRINCE OF MONACO". At the bottom is the year of issue, 1974.
