In the central part, within a linear border, is a lion against an African landscape. Below it are the large numerals 50.
Obverse Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised denticles. Along the edge of the coin in the right part, bottom, and left is the English text QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND. In the central part is the right-facing profile of the Queen.
