    The central part features the right-facing profile of King Edward VII. Below the neck truncation is the monogram 'DLS' - the signature of engraver George William de Saulles. Around the edge is the inscription: 'EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA:BRITT:OMNI:REX FID:DEF:IND:IMP:', which translates from English as 'Edward VII, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains and Emperor of India, Defender of the Faith', and decorative toothed elements.
