Below - in Indo-Arabic numerals: "۱۲۷۷" - the year 1277 AH (Islamic calendar) or 1861 AD - the year of the accession of the Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz. Above - the numeral: "۹" - "9", signifying the 9th year of his reign, or 1869. Decorative raised denticles are arranged along the edge of the rim.
